BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Baker earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1943 and then went on to major in Pomology at Cornell's College of Agriculture. He received his master's degree at Penn State University and his doctorate at Purdue University. He was a professor at Cornell from 1957-1989. In 1970 he founded Cornell's Institute of Food Science and Marketing. Baker was elected a fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists in 1997.
