The collection consists of part of his personal papers. The union publications he edited will be found in the ILR Library and the Cooperator in Mann Library.

This collection contains the office files of the Greater Buffalo Industrial Union Council from its organization in 1937 to their merger with the Buffalo Federation of Labor in 1958. Include general administrative records, materials relating to labor legislation, relations with member organizations, relations with New York State Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) and the national CIO, relations with international labor organizations and with the public.

Includes materials pertaining to the following broad subjects: socialist unity, growth and conflict, 1900- 1913; the war years, 1914-1919; Bolshevism and red-baiting, 1918-1921; fusion politics, 1922-1924; reconstruction and decline of the Socialist Party, 1925-1933; and trade unionism, 1909-1933. This is a microfilm edition of the Morris Hillquit papers, the originals are at the Wisconsin State Historical Society.
