Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Miscellaneous Records
Consists chiefly of working agreements, protective agreements, mediation agreements and legislative materials from the labor organization, Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.
Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Records
These records deal chiefly with the union during the presidential terms of office of A.F. Whitney (1928-1949), W.P. Kennedy (1949-1963), and Charles Luna (1963-1968).
Jacob Seidenberg Additional Arbitration Records
The bulk of the collection consists of arbitration case files, chiefly in the railroad industry, presented before other industries (most notably the airline industry) and unions (most notably the International Brotherhood of Teamsters), also data collected by Seidenberg for an injunction study of the New York courts, as well as proceedings, transcriprts, and exhibits of two Presidential Emergency Boards on which Seidenberg served.
Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen Records
These records represent the small surviving fraction of the union's total record production, the largest part of which was periodically disposed of throughout the history of the union.
Railway Labor Executives' Association Records
This collection consists of the office files of the Railway Labor Executives' Association for the years 1930 through 1967 and select general and subject files for 1926 through 1976. The files include correspondence, court case reports, court decisions, legal filings, executive orders, reports of emergency boards, statistics, copies of legislation, political records, arbitration and mediation records, financial statements and labor agreements.
Ralph T. Seward Papers
Includes over 1000 arbitration and mediation awards, decisions, and related documents, primarily for cases in the following industries: steel, electronics, auto, transportation, meatpacking, manufacturing, and communications. Also include documents relating to two boards of the National Mediation Service which Seward chaired (Emergency Board Number 176 and Arbitration Board No. 282).
