Consists of proceedings and papers filed before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division, by the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes and the Railway Labor Executives' Association, contesting a railroad merger between the Erie Railroad Company and the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad Company, on the grounds that it would result in loss of jobs guaranteed to union members.

Documents include reports, recommendations and proposals of the Emergency Board and of the New York State Board of Inquiry; proposals of the carrier, union and National Mediation Board; carrier and union exhibits, statements and agreements.

These records represent the small surviving fraction of the union's total record production, the largest part of which was periodically disposed of throughout the history of the union.

Consist of the transcript of the hearings, exhibits presented by carriers and unions, and studies prepared by the staff of the Commission.

Consists of transcripts of the proceedings (38 vol.), and 83 union and carrier exhibits documenting wage structure and various work rules and working conditions.
