Biographical / Historical
Bernard Horecker was born on October 31, 1914 in Chicago, IL. We received a BS and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. Prior to coming to Cornell University Medical College, he held positions at National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases, New York University School of Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Hoffman LaRoche. He began an adjunct professor of biochemistry in 1973 and became a full professor of biochemistry in 1984. In 1984, he was appointed the Dean of Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences and the Associate Dean of Medical College for Research and Sponsored Programs. His specialty was enzymes research. He died on October 9, 2010.
