Abstract

Lewis Atterbury Stimson, MD was a surgeon and educator, as well as an important contributor towards the founding of Cornell University Medical College in 1898. This collection contains correspondence, notebooks, a diary, will, and reprints, as well as biographies and memorial statements relating to L. A. Stimson.

Scope and Contents This small collection only provides a glimpse of Lydia Anderson's life. The biographies, correspondence, and scrapbook all indicate the great love and respect her colleagues, friends, students had for her. There is some business correspondence regarding speech invitations and her participation in nursing professional organizations. The papers have been divided into five series; Correspondence, 1927-1977, World War II and the Ninth General Hospital, 1942-1946, Cornell University-New York Hospital School of Nursing and the New York Hospital, 1926-1982, Miscellaneous, 1925-1938, and Photographs, 1920s-1970s.

This collection contains 30 research notebooks from Dr. Ferger’s time working in Dr. Vincent Du Vigneaud’s laboratory in Ithaca, New York.

The notebooks date between 1960 to 1976, and contain research notes, calculations, and data charts. There are also logs of reprints and manuscripts published by Dr. Ferger and her colleagues.
