Exhibit Q-14 shows a sharp track curvature on an approach to a grade crossing. Note also, the maintenance of way men working on the track in the center of the picture and as to whom both firemen and enginemen must keep a constant lookout.

Scope and Contents From the Series: This series consists of photographs of the Southern Pacific's facilities in San Francisco, California. These photographs were submitted to the Commission as Employees' Exhibit 34, are referred to by the letter Q in testimony, and were taken by S. Vickers. Mr. Vickers was employed as a locomotive engineer by the Southern Pacific, and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Division 161. CNW Unit #1649, EMD GP-7. Shows the south end of Yard 9 and indicates the curvatures of all tracks as well as gives some indication of the number of workmen in the area. Note also the rocks, stones, pieces of wood, and scrap metal that are scattered throughout the yard, which make it easier for men on the ground. Also shows the 20 main and 19 main lines.
