This picture shows in the left foreground Union Pacific track which are the main tracks from Albina Yard, approaching the east end of the Steel Bridge. The tracks to the right lead to Sullivan's Gulch, east Portland Yard and the Southern Pacific main tracks. Curvature of tracks and impaired vision.

These photographs were submitted to the Commission as Employees' Exhibit 38, are referred to by the letter A in testimony, and were taken by Leo R. Anderson. Mr. Anderson was employed as a locomotive fireman by the WATC. The WATC is a corporation created in Washington D.C. to provide support to railroads using Washington's Union Station. This picture shows the west end of the SP Brooklyn Yard. Reverse curve continuing backwards and a sweeping left hand curve. The fireman must tell the engineer about close clearances, other yard engines in the vicinity, misplaced switches, and other workmen on and around the tracks. The fireman must also relay signals from yardmen and other yard crews.
