This view is to the west from the 18th Street bridge. The freight yard is at the right of the photograph. Note the engine on the extreme end of freight train (center of photo). The fireman has the curve on his side and only he can see in front and to the rear of the locomotive the ground personnel and other movements to his left. This shows more clearly how all the tracks at left of photograph curve to the left.Note also the workmen in the lower part of the picture as for whom no protection is provided against trains pulling into the freight yards at the left.
