Picture also indicates the large amount of interlocking switches and cross-overs in this area. All movements through this location are governed by K interlocking tower.

Shows the signals at the right of the locomotive in a slow-clear position. Location is northbound tube with fixed signal in a slow clear position, which is observed by firemen who in return, relays signal indication to enginemen.

Picture shows a close view of the scrap car, where the debris lays alongside of the car. This constitutes a safety hazard because debris can cause train derailments. Also, the close clearance the of the building means that the signal passing happens on the fireman's side.

Scope and Contents From the File: To the extreme right is the building where clerical staff is housed; the smaller building in the center houses the teletype clerk. Between the two buildings is the interchange track, and the pit track runs in front of the larger building. This is where CNJ interchanges cars with the PRR. The upper yard is in the center background of the photograph. The tracks leading from the center of the photograph to the lower left leads to the lower yard where inbound trains are switched for interchange...
