The Association continued to be concerned about industrial disease and accidents, particularly those relating to radium poisoning and mine safety. Katherine Wiley wrote Andrews about several girls who died after being employed to paint radium on watch faces, and enclosed several letters which gave details of the case (6/19/24). Andrews suggested to Ethelbert Steward (6/19/24) that the Bureau of Labor Statistics should investigate the problem of phosphorous poison in the fireworks industry...
