Item 6: Cutting Hemp near Lexington, Ky. on One of the Largest Hemp Fields in the State
Image depicts two men using a mule-drawn reaper to cut hemp plants while a young boy looks on. After cutting, hemp is stacked for retting (the process of allowing the straw to decay so fiber can be separated). Next, hemp stalks are cleaned from the fiber, and the fiber is tied and baled.
