George H. Hildebrand "The Government's Wage-Price Policy: A Long Range View," Address before ILR Council

George H. Hildebrand (July 7, 1913 – May 18, 2007) was the Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Economics and Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.

After graduating of the University of California-Berkeley (BA '35), Harvard University (MA '41), and Cornell University ('42), Hildebrand served in the military during World War II. From 1947 to 1954, he was a professor at the University of California-Los Angeles. In 1960, he became Professor of Economics and Industrial Relations at Cornell University, an in 1970 he became the Maxwell M. Upson Professor Economics and Industrial Relations.

Hildebrand was a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators, a member of panels of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services and the New York State Public Employee Relations Board. He served as the Deputy Undersecretary of Labor of the U.S. Department of Labor (1969-1971), was elected President of the Industrial Relations Research Association (1971), and was founding director of Cornell's Center for the Study of American Political Economy (1980).
