Scope and Contents

A notebook of material used by Mizen in the weaving and mending departments of the mills. Includes a document entitled: Fundamentals of woven design, by Edward L. Golec, Associate Professor of Textile Design, Lowell Textile Institute, Lowell, Massachusetts; this document is dated 1952 and includes cloth samples (swatches). Also includes notes, weaving drafts, and printed forms headed: Loom check card, Quality report ticket, and Stock requisition from an unidentified mill.

Biographical / Historical

Mizen was a weaver in the Wood Mill of the American Woolen Co., Lawrence, Massachusetts, for 18 years, then was employed by the American Woolen Co. in Raleigh, North Carolina, as a weaving instructor.
