Biographical / Historical

Betty Hawley Donnelly, nee Maguire, was the vice-president of the New York State AFL-CIO, and its predecessor organization the New York Federation of Labor, for fifty years. She also served as chairman of its committee on education. Mrs. Donnelly worked with the New York City Board of Education for 40 years, retiring as Executive Secretary for the Advisory Board on Vocational Education. She was a member of the Women's Council of the New York State Department of Commerce, and the President's and Governor's Committees for the Physically Handicapped.
