Records from Gray's work at the Yantic Woolen Company, Yantic Connecticut; the American Woolen Comapny, Lawrence, Massachusetts, and the Pacific Mills, Lawrence, Massachusetts. Includes forms and test reports from the Pacific Mills, Yantic Woolen Co., and other unidentified mills; inventory and price lists, 1931-1934, from American Woolen Co.; manufacturing reports, 1934, from Arlington Mills; and a fabric record, 1936, from Wood Worsted Mills. Also includes "piece dye" notebooks, 1909-1934, from an unidentified mill; a notebook from La Porte Woolen Mills, La Porte, Ind.; various weaving drafts; fabric sheets; cloth samples (swatches); and correspondence and job offers, 1917.

Biographical / Historical

Robert C. Gray was born the son of the late Sarah (Wrigley) and Robert C. Gray Sr. on October 9, 1926, in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was educated in North Andover and graduated from Johnson High School in North Andover, class of 1945. Robert went on in his education later in life and attended the Lowell Textile Institute. He worked at Troy Mills for 10 years as a textile chemist before retiring in 1995. Prior, he was employed at the West Swanzey Woolen Mill and Franklin Chemical in a similar role.
