Biographical / Historical
Pontoosuc Woolen Manufacturing Company produced blankets, carriage robes, cassimeres and flannels in Pittsfield, MA, from 1825 until it was taken over by another company in 1924. A continuous series of employee accounts from 1887 to 1924 indicates that at least half of the factory workers were women.
