Collection contains U.S. patents, 1906-1949, including dams and hydroelectric power transmission, and loom parts and mechanisms; Canadian patents and assignments, 1900-1914; a patent application file, 1893-1894, 1932-1948, predominately for loom parts and mechanisms; reprints of Baker patents, 1899-1937; and information concerning a patent infringement suit, ca. 1927, between Baker and Crompton & Knowles. Also contains correspondence, 1931-1945, with U.S. and foreign patent offices, lawyers, etc.; a purchasing file, 1944-1946; sales file, 1927-1944, concerning sale of inventions, especially looms; employment file, 1944-1946; and production file, 1945-1946.

William H. Baker (1874-1962) was an inventor and manufacturer. He held many patents for a wide variety of loom improvements, an automatic loom, a kinematograph, submarine devices, and hydro-electric power transmitters.
