Scope and Contents

The Thomas R. Palmer Papers include material, primarily from the 1950's, concerning weaving, especially hand weaving. Includes company brochures, catalogs, order forms and newsletters from Hand-Skill Looms, Inc. This company was founded by Elphege Nadeau, a home weaver from Woonsocket, RI who invented a new hand loom in the 1950's. Also contains brochures, 1969-1975, from Lily Mills Co., Shelby, NC, sellers of hand weaving looms, equipment and yarn; product information sheets and newsletters called Shuttle-Craft Styles which include a few yarn and cloth samples (swatches); and a photograph, 1954, taken at the Nadeau Hand Weaving Center, Boston, showing Palmer and Mrs. Larry (Gladys) Smith at a loom.
