Scope and Contents
The Elise Morenon Papers includes records of the Stevens and Leland families collected sporadically throughout the years by the families. It contains records for the family companies Snelling, Leland & Co., Brown and Adams Wool Commission (later Adams & Leland), and Knowles, Leland & Co. The collection also includes the personal effects of multiple family members including Edmund Francis Leland and Ann Eliza Smith. The collection is comprised of photographs, company records, art sketches, books, daguerreotypes, a diary, newspapers and clippings, a wallet, advertisements, and albums.

Elise Morenon is the great-granddaughter of Nathaniel Stevens, founder of multiple companies that were eventually known as J.P. Stevens and Co., one of the largest American textile companies in the business at the time.
