Biographical / Historical
Granville Edward Foss, Jr., was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, on July 19, 1867. He married Hattie Crosby Simonds on June 12, 1895. They had four children: Alden S. Foss (born 1896), Granville S. Foss (born 1898), Mary Foss (born 1904), and Caroline Foss (born 1906).
In December 1895 Granville E. Foss, Jr., founded Brightwood Manufacturing Company, North Andover, Massachusetts, in partnership with George Henry Simonds.
Granville E. Foss, Jr., died in 1934.
Biographical / Historical
Brightwood Manufacturing Company was a manufacturer of worsted woolen dress goods and was capable of producing 9,000 yards per day, with an annual capacity of 2,750,000 yards. In 1918 Granville E. Foss, Jr., served as President, General Manager, and Purchasing Agent. Granville's wife, Hattie Simonds Foss, served as Vice-President and his brother-in-law, George H. Simonds, Jr., was the Treasurer.
