Item 72: Howard W. Bracken House
Scope and Contents
Printed in 1974 from glass plate negative no.B72. 1894- 1900. Image depicts the Howard W. Bracken House in Hopedale, Massachusetts, also known as the Lilla (Bancroft) Bracken Pratt House. The house is a substantial two-and-a-half story wood clapboard building with an extension on the right, two visible chimneys, shutters at all the windows, and a front porch that stretches the length of the front and extends on either side. Howard W. Bracken was the husband of Lilla Bancroft and the son-in-law of Joseph and Sylvia Bancroft. The 1904 town directory lists Bracken as the Draper foundry superintendent, living on Hopedale Street, near Peace - the house across from the Bancroft Library.
