Item 16: Octagon House
Scope and Contents
Printed in 1974 from glass plate negative no.B16. ca. 1903. Image depicts one of three (at one time) octagon houses in Hopedale, Massachusetts This one was located on Prospect Street, and was known as "The Castle." It is no longer standing. The house is two stories with shutters at all the windows (some are closed). It appears to be made out of concrete. It also has some gable windows in the attic and a small front porch. There is a one-story wood clapboard extension at the back of the house. Two other houses can be seen to the right further down the street (which is unpaved).
