Gelatin silver print, ca. 1918. Black and white image shows male worker as he works at a slubber roving frame, or slubber. A slubber is "[t]he first of the roving frames used in the cotton system of yarn manufacturing," and its purpose is "twist[ing] [slivers] into a greatly reduced size called roving." 18 x 9 cm.
