Scope and Contents

Gelatin silver print. ca. 1916. Black and white image shows a male worker in the process of measuring the length of cotton fibers (staple) before assigning the cotton to a group based on the measurement (classing). In front and behind him are tables covered with cotton that is to be inspected or already has been. The measurements are likely written on the man's clipboard.
