Scope and Contents
Black and white image shows female workers working with raw silk to clean it of some of the animal gum and the threads made ready for weavers by being wound, doubled together and spun. The skeins are put over the hexagonal reels and the silk filaments wound from them on to the small spools under the watchful direction of the winders.
