Scope and Contents

Black and white image shows rows of slubbers, which is another term for the part of the roving process used in the cotton system of yarn manufacturing. Slubbing is the intermediary step between drawing and roving. Here a male worker is feeding sliver from cans into the frame where it is elongated, twisted, and wound upon bobbins.
