Item 26: Unwinding the [silkworm] cocoons, Japan
Scope and Contents
Black and white image shows a long table where female workers are working with the cocoons. After soaking in warm water to loosen the threads, the workers remove and wind them into reels of raw silk, which will then be twisted into skeins.
