Scope and Contents

Black-and-white image shows workman guiding cotton as it comes out of the opening machine, where the fibers were opened and impurities remaining from gin were removed. The result is a uniform blend of fibers. Printed on the reverse: "Alabama Textile Industry. Some of the world's largest and most modern textile mills are located in Alabama. Employing 54,000 people the industry is one of the state's three largest. This picture shows cotton from different bales being put through the opening machine to produce a uniform blend of fibers."
