The Merrimack River is in the foreground, with the Massachusetts Cotton Mills buildings in the background. Image taken from the Centralville side of the river, showing a covered bridge on the far right, known as the Central Bridge at the time, although it crosses the river at Bridge Street (the bridge there now is known as the Bridge Street bridge). The covered bridge burned on August 5, 1882. It was replaced by an iron bridge the following year. 17.5 x 11 cm.
