Discrimination - Reatie Lee and Emmett Smith, 1933-1939
Scope and Contents
These two white ICRR trainmen were arrested for, confessed to, and tried for the murders and attempted murders of African-American ICRR trainmen in Jackson, Mississippi. They were found not guilty in a jury trial, and then sued the ICRR for back-pay, slander, and wrongful termination. Folder contains a memorandum, dated July 22, 1937, that contains the entire narrative of the shootings.
