Scope and Contents

There is much detailed information on the California organizational set-up in the papers for June, including a report on the new membership drive in each local (June 1,2,15). The libel suit filed by the Di Giorgio Corporation against the union was settled in return for agreement to end the strike; see the copies of the legal agreement (May 8, 23) and a letter from Alexander Schullman to Mitchell on this subject (April 21). Throughout the year, the NFLU was involved in a dispute with the National Farmers' Union over the organization of dairy farmers in New York, Louisiana, and other states.
