Note how the tracks curve to the right and left. There is very little clearance between these cars and people who service them are in and about them. Also, notice the building at the right side of photograph and trucks and automobiles on and blocking this public street. In the movements of the freight cars the work is done sometimes on the fireman's side and sometimes on the engineer's side. In either case a lookout must be maintained by the fireman and engineer.
