Konvitz expresses dismay regarding his Chicago address to the American Council for Judaism because he sees few others arguing "for the cause of liberalism and freedom in the state of Israel," (May 5, 1949) and his concern that such a position has made him a target for criticism by some Zionists (March 8, 1949-May 5, 1949)
