Black cover. Has rough itineraries from April to August (writing appears to be from April to July); begins with April 19, 1862; has a plant stuck between its last few pages.

Includes advertisement for the 1862 Royal Mail Steam Ship from Reykjavik to Copenhagen; starting in April, very faded notes on travel (including weather); continues to July; Jack Shepherd written on back cover.

Front inside cover has a rudimentary travel itinerary for July and August; back inside cover continues to September and up until October 3; 123 written pages; begins with leaving London on July 17 ,ends with September 3 with what should be Mývatn based on the itinerary; the journal records details of travel and the landscapes.

Only fragmentary papers (baggage ticket from Marseilles, some papers with names, Shepherd is mentioned).
