COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
The Albert D. Shaw papers document Shaw’s work as U.S. consul in Toronto, as President of the YMCA of Watertown, NY, and as a business executive. Most of the letters in the collection are to business associates and are primarily concerned with Shaw's unsuccessful efforts to raise funds in England to build an electric railroad in Canada and with the founding of the Canadian Niagara Power Company. The scrapbook consists of newspaper clippings and assorted memorabilia concerning Shaw's service as U.S. consul in Toronto.
