COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
Correspondence, mimeographed pamphlets and other printed material; photographs, and scrapbooks concerning Babcock's career as a county agent in Cattaraugus and Tompkins Counties, New York, as an executive in the New York State Farm Bureau, the Grange League Federation (G.L.F.) and related organizations (extensive), the New York State Agricultural Conference Board, the Federal Farm Board, Central Bank for Cooperatives, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, and the New York State Emergency Food Commission, as a member or consultant of various New York State, Federal, and non-governmental boards and committees, and as professor of marketing and later trustee of Cornell University.
Includes correspondence with editors and publishers of numerous agricultural and other journals and with manufacturers of farm equipment, chiefly relating to agricultural research and education, to the promotion of effective farm organizations, and to state and national politics as they pertain to agriculture. Includes a "Unimal," a plastic toy creature designed by Karl Butler, representing five farm animals. Correspondents include Ezra Taft Benson, Edmund Ezra Day, Thomas E. Dewey, Victor Emanuel, Herbert H. Lehman, and Thomas E. Milliman.
