Biographical / Historical
Tracy Dodgson (1962-2006) was born in Canandaigua, NY, and lived most of her life in the Rochester area, NY. In 1997, she founded Zero Archives, a non-profit organization aspiring to focus on collecting, preserving, and disseminating Punk Rock Music History, Lifestyle, and Culture. Dodgson defined Punk Rock music in the broadest sense, including sub-genres like punk, new wave, industrial, Goth, Ska (1977 punk style), and otherwise termed New Music and Alternative Undergrown. She gradually developed this Archive through donations and purchases and actively sought out new and unique bands to document. During the 1980s she hosted a regular country/western music radio program to get hands-on experience in the radio industry. She worked the overnight shift and learned all aspects of program production. It was during this period that she began to buy and sell records, creating her own business that continued for most of her life. Interviewing band members was her favorite activity, along with collecting posters, zines, and other punk movement memorabilia. Tracy was the great granddaughter of the engineer Mr. Frank LaMonte Dodgson, who graduated from Cornell University in 1889 and made contributions to the railroad industry.
