BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Cornell University Class of 1947, earning a bachelor's degree in horticulture. Strander was a landscape architect and nurseryman, operating Strander Evergreen Nurseries from 1947 to 1967 in Tukwila, Washington. He was a civic leader in Tukwila, serving as a planning commissioner and later as mayor (1962-1967).
