Scope and content
Posters, flyers, news clippings, programs and other ephemera documenting the life and work of Jorge "Popmaster Fabel" Pabon. Materials document his life as a b-boy and active participant in hip hop culture from the early 1980s onward. Included in the collection are video tapes of rehearsals and performances, along with a black book of art work begun in 1981 while Fabel was in High School.

Biographical / Historical
Jorge "PopMaster Fabel" Pabon is a celebrated dancer and artist from Spanish Harlem, NY, noted for his contributions to Hip Hop dance styles, particularly popping and locking. He appeared as a dancer in the 1984 feature film Beat Street and is a former Senior Vice President of the b-boying crew and hip hop group Rock Steady Crew. He is a co-founder of GhettOriginal Productions, Inc. with which he co-authored, co-directed, and co-choreographed the first two Hip Hop musicals ever produced, “So! What Happens Now?” and “Jam on the Groove” (first official Off-Broadway Hip Hop musical). He is a Hip Hop dance instructor at New York University.
