ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY
The origins of the department of Fiber Science and Apparel Design and the department of Design + Environmental Analysis in the College of Human Ecology can be traced back to 1925, as the Department of Household Art and the Department of Textiles and Clothing. They evolved separately and then joined together in 1969 as the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis (D+EA). They stayed together until 1985, when the Department of Textiles and Apparel split from D+EA.
The Department of Textiles and Apparel changed its name to the Department of Fiber Science and Apparel Design in the spring of 2007 and in November of 2021 the Department of Fiber Science and Apparel Design and the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis combined to become the Department of Human Centered Design.
