BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Robert Trent Jones (1906-2000) was a golf course architect. Born in Ince-in-Makerfield, England, he grew up in East Rochester, New York, where he became an avid golfer from his youth. Jones attended Cornell University, where he created his own course of study to become a professional golf course designer. During his professional career, he designed and re-designed more than 500 golf courses nationally and internationally, including 79 courses that were used for the United States Open or other national championships. Jones was a founding member and a former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. He won numerous awards for his designs and was the first architect inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987.
