BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Oliver H. Hewitt, 1916-1999, a resident of South Florida since 1971, was chief of research for the Canadian Wildlife Service from 1944-1950. He was a professor at Cornell teaching wildlife ecology from 1950-1971 when he retired as a wildlife consultant. The author of "Fieldbook of Birds of the Florida Suncoast," 1976, Hewitt worked as a columnist for the "Charlotte Sun Herald" as the author of "Fieldnotes."
