Biographical / Historical
Raymond L. Handlan was recruited by Chuck Feeney to be the first president of Atlantic (then the Atlantic Foundation Service Company) upon its founding in 1982. Based at Atlantic's Ithaca, NY office, Handlan was in charge of identifying potential grantees and arranging payments. After stepping down in 1993, Handlan remained a senior advisor. A Cornell alumnus (Class of '53), Handlan served as the University's Director of Development prior to his tenure with Atlantic.
