Biographical / Historical
The New York City office was established in 1987 as the administrative headquarters for Atlantic Philanthropies operations in the United States. Simultaneously, the Ithaca, New York office was expanded to facilitate the growth of grant and research activity. The New York City office did not become responsible for the majority of grants administered in the United States until 2005, when the Ithaca office closed, but a few grants which involved senior staff members were administered out of the New York City offices. It seems likely that senior staff brought grant files with them during their move from Ithaca. One of the last offices to close, New York ceased operations in October 2020.
