Processing Information

Subseries contains discs made of lacquer on aluminum often referred to as "Acetates". These are some of the rarest items in the Bambaataa collection and are very fragile. Jackets and discs have often been stored separately because of their fragility. Included are several mixes of beats and samples, some produced by the Sunshine Sound record label and many others with no credits. It is possible that Bambaataa had them pressed for his own use, but we are unable to determine based on the descriptive information written or printed on the jackets or labels. This series also contains master pressings of some of Bambaataa’s albums and singles and those of other artists. Many of the items in Box 104 and 105 have been digitized. There are a few vinyl discs in the series that were misfiled. Titles have been taken from the label on on the vinyl or what is written on the jacket, unless, once digitized, its found innacurate. This will be indicated in the scope and contents note for that item. Side one and side two are sometimes on two different discs because the acetates were used for pressing vinyl.
