Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

The restoration of the facade of this historic 1920s-era Art Deco building included replacement or preservation of fenestration, cleaning and replacement of brickwork in an array of special shapes and colors, and terra-cotta details in accordance with guidelines established by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1987. The project also included interior renovations and a dramatic lighting of the tower top, giving the General Electric Building a distinctive outline on the Manhattan skyline.
