O: Bust of Lafayette facing right in a redingote (or double-breasted coat). Legend around the edge : General Lafayette. R: In Youth, the Ardent Champion / In Age, the Enlightened and Venerable Defender of the Civil and Religious Freedom of his Country and of Mankind. This is the first commemorative medal showing an aging Lafayette.White.
