COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
Includes records, film, video and computer files documenting the history of the laboratory and its programs. The collection houses a variety of documents, some from before SML's founding. This includes newsletters (from 1967-2003), reports on the program, the SML charter, finances, surveys, logs, various publications, correspondences, photographs, boat and house information and contracts, equipment information, and a number of other historical and miscellaneous documents. There are also a number of videos mostly in the form of either VHS or film reel. Some of these are SML oriented, focusing on history or the island, while others are marine biology related, educational videos about whales or other oceanic beings. Also correspondence, including some from John Kingsbury regarding trying to get the lab started and the funding, research, and operations of the lab. Logs of the Research Vessel Wrack and correspondence about how it was acquired.
