Biographical / Historical
Founded in 2010 by Warren Buffett, Melinda French Gates, and Bill Gates, the Giving Pledge is a campaign encouraging billionaires to pledge a majority of their wealth towards philanthropy. Feeney officially pledged on February 3, 2011-- almost thirty years after establishing the Atlantic Philanthropies in order to give away his wealth. Other pledgers include Ted Turner, Diane von Furstenberg, and Michael R. Bloomberg.
